As a teacher Sophia encourages students to bring their own culture and history to the table as directors and actors. She believes that theater is an ideal medium by which to teach critical thinking and help mold young creatives into insightful advocates. She currently teaches Directing I & Directing II for undergraduates at the University of Houston.
